storied ii: segreto

A Golden Thread

In a century-old textile mill near Lake Como, a single thread connects passion and place.

Wooden bars and beams of an ancient loom are still strung with fraying fibers. Now idle, it functions as a reminder of the history here. Its influence is easily seen in the whir of modern making. And in the fine textiles that supply the world’s most storied brands. Rich, luxe fabrics that uphold a tapestry of tradition. Of culture and heritage. Carefully woven into every pattern, drape and fold.

Here, a community of dedicated artisans ensure this meaningful craft is carried forward. Forward faster. And fiercer. In the orchestrated movement of weft threads. Over, then under, the tension-taut warp. Pulling us in as tightly as each woven strand, to listen. To return to this factory floor, loud with the sounds of making. Knowing that these impressive, automated machines still rely on human hands to begin and complete each weaving. In a careful tying of tiny knots by skilled fingers, we see this artistry of ages preserved. A touch that feels essential. And intentional.

The Ancient Loom, 1893

This antique loom created many of the 75,000 woven fabrics carefully preserved and kept in the company archives. Still today, these fabrics inspire modern weaving palettes and patterns.
